Aaliyah Haughton made headlines after 1994 when she debuted her debut album Age isn't just the number. At the age of 15, the album achieved Gold standing. It was made as an album that was heavily inspired by R. Kelly and it put the singer in the limelight. In 1996 Jermaine Durpri along with Timbaland joined forces to record the second album of hers, One In A Million. The album included the track If Your Boyfriend Only Knew as the single number one. Aaliyah's second album called One in a million, was released in 1996. It featured the top smash single,"If You Girl Only Knew. She appeared alongside the martial arts legend Jet Li in the 2000 romantic-action movie Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver spotted her in an awards show. In 2002, she appeared as part of the Anne Rice-based horror film Queen of the Damned. The Matrix Sequels was her first appearance in The Matrix Sequels. She had also appeared on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions (2007). In 2001, 1999 2002 and 2003, she was nominated to win four Grammy Awards. She is a first-generation Indian-American who was born in Connecticut. The stage name Mann is an abbreviation of her marriage name Mankad. Aarti has both Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Munn for her professional names. Though she started her career in film and TV with a few minor performances, her acting career picked up momentum in the mid-2000s. Other notable works she has done comprise Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. She's also appeared in major commercials of brands such as Volvo, an international auto manufacturer. She currently lives at Los Angeles along with her spouse, daughter, and husband. She is also pursuing her acting career.
