Aaliyah's debut album Age Ain't Nothing However A Number debuted in 1994. It was Gold at the age of 15 years old. It was done as a collaboration that was highly in the style of R. Kelly and it placed her in the spotlight. In 1996, Jermaine and Timbaland made Aaliyah's album One In A Million. It featured If You Girls Only Knew the top-selling single. Aaliyah became a household name for her work as an R&B artist following the release of her second album One in a Million. In 2000, she was on the screen in Romeo Must Die, a romance/action movie with Jet-Li. Joel Silver spotted her in the awards ceremony. In 2002 she got to be part of the horror film Queen of the Damned which was an adaptation of the Anne Rice novel. Aarti Magnumdar is her formal name, but she also uses Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. She began her acting career in minor film and TV performances, but her fame grew during the middle 2000s. Some of her most notable roles include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. The actress has been featured in a variety of commercials, including Volvo's global car manufacturer. The actress currently resides at Los Angeles along with her husband, daughter and pursues her acting career.
