The debut album of Aaliyah Age Ain't Nothin' but a Number came out in 1994. Aaliyah Danahaughton was only fifteen when her debut album was released as Gold. R. Kelly was a significant influence in this project which brought her into the spotlight. In 1996 Jermaine Durpri as well as Timbaland joined forces to record her sophomore album One In A Million. The album included the track If Your Boyfriend Only Knew as the number one. With the release of this work Aaliyah won international acclaim for her performance as an R&B performer. The year 2000 saw her starred alongside the legendary martial artist Jet Li in Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, the film producer, saw her during an awards show and suggested her the part. Queen of the Damned was her first role in 2002. The story is based on the Anne Rice novel. She then got into the Matrix in the form of Zee in The Matrix Sequels having also been as a character in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 and The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. She is a first-generation Indian-American who was born in Connecticut. The stage name Mann is an abbreviation for her marital name Mankad. She uses Aarti Man and Aarti Mahumdar for her professional name. While her initial career was dominated by minor movie and TV parts, she gained prominence in the mid-2000s. She has also appeared in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy. In addition, she was a part of several commercials, including Volvo and other major automobile brand names. She currently lives in Los Angeles along with her wife, son and daughter. She also pursues her acting career.
